While struggling to express the complexities of identity formation, Andrea Jandernoa began using embroidery to stitch concepts of feminism, censorship, and history into her oil paintings.  This form of embroidery and paint has become integral to her work.  Each stitch transforms into a scab upon the painting's surface.  Although not every work is embroidered in this way, Jandernoa's portfolio is imbued with its spirit of persistence, memory, and tension.
